Mohamed Magdy has more than 6 years experience. His practice is focused on corporate and commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution in various sectors (e.g. oil and gas, construction and building materials, medical industry, and aviation). He has worked in the litigation department of Ibrachy & Dermarkar Law Firm for 5 years, where he worked on several complex disputes, and was representing multinational clients.

 

Experience

Mr. Magdy’s work comprises, but is not limited to, conducting legal research, preparing strategy of defense, drafting memorandam of defense and claim of lawsuits. He represented clients before administrative, commercial and criminal Courts.

His experience in the corporate dispute resolution is marked, inter alia, by the following examples:

  • Representing a multinational cement producer in a dispute pertaining to a claim to revoke its privatization.
  • Representing a multinational auditing company in a 100 million US Dollars compensation claim filed by a group of lenders. The case is considered a precedent with respect to the auditor’s liability under Egyptian law.
  • Handling a major dispute pertaining to the decision of the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority ordering an acquiring company to issue a mandatory tender offer to the minority shareholders.
  • Member of a team representing a major multinational tourism company with respect to the nullification of an arbitration award, where the Cassation Court set a new precedent regarding the respective fees.
  • Representing a multinational company in the field of pharmaceutical industries; in a dispute with a value exceeding USD 50 million against its exclusive agent in Egypt pertaining to the termination of the agency agreement.
  • Representing a multinational airline company in lawsuits pertaining to the application of international conventions.
  • Representing a multinational cement company in a dispute pertaining to the claim of revoking the cement production license to save over EGP 150 million.
